Obituary for Andrew James Luke,Jr.
Andrew James Luke, Jr.,91, formerly of Hamlet, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 6, 2020, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough Maine.
He was born in Richmond County May 27, 1928, son of Andrew James Luke and Bessie Elizabeth Quick Luke
.
He was the last of eight siblings and lived the longest of any of his immediate family members.
“Jim” received a honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1952 as Corporal. His career spanned across decades of service to CSX; he had been retired for over 30 years. He was always known as a railroad man and loved to talk “shop”.
His wife Patricia Lucile Duke Luke, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his three children, Kim Luke Lewis (Bruce) of Kennebunk, ME, Andrew John Luke of Jacksonville,FL and James Edwin “Ed” Luke (Cathy) of Hamlet; Between the children there are seven grandchildren, Ruth Isaac, Joseph Isaac, Joshua Lewis, Jason Luke, Christopher Luke, Gregory Luke and Kayla Luke; three great-grandchildren, Ayla Love Spas, Kye Connor and Mikala Luke.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Harrington Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 pm.
A Graveside Service will be held afterwards at 2:30 in Richmond Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 Hwy. 1, N., Rockingham, NC 28379
