Obituary for Betty R. Welker

Betty R. Welker, 97, of Marston NC, formerly of Mt. Jackson, began her eternal sleep the afternoon of October 15, 2020 at her home with family at her side.

Betty was born in Mt. Jackson on April 5, 1923 to Hiram and Bertha Mars. Betty married Harold Welker and lived and worked on the family farm in Hillsville before moving to Mt. Jackson. Betty worked for over 40 years transporting special needs students to and from school. Each and every one of those students held a special place in her heart. She spoke fondly of them and could remember most of their names until her last day on earth.

Betty moved to North Carolina in 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on her deck in the Carolina sunshine.

Everyone that met her loved her. Her spunk and sense of humor were just two things about Betty that everyone she met, were well aware of.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harold, toddler son Thomas, son in law Joseph Donick, infant great granddaughter Elizabeth and brothers Russell Mars, Budd Mars, Robert Mars, Howard Mars, and Phillip Mars. Betty is survived by son Butch Welker (Mary Ann) of Franklin, PA, daughter Janet Donick of NC, son Dan Welker (Dee) of New Castle, daughter Deb Welker of North Carolina, brother Harry Mars of New Castle, grandchildren, Erin Sellinger (Clinton) of Prospect, Jamie Fava (Felice) of Gaithersburg MD, Amanda Welker of Austintown, OH, Micah Welker of California, great grandchildren Justin Selllinger, Adam Sellinger, Liam Fava, and Madeline Fava.

Public viewing will be held at R. Cunningham Funeral Home from 10:00 am-12:00 pm, Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

A private Funeral will be held at 12:00 pm at R. Cunningham Funeral Home.
