Obituary for Carl Junior Robinette

Carl J. Robinette, 78, of Hamlet, North Carolina, passed away Monday, August 15th, 2022, at Hospice Haven of Richmond County in Rockingham, North Carolina, after a brief battle with cancer with family by his side.

Born October 29th, 1943, in Chauncey, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Joseph "Joe" and Thelma Williamson Robinette.

Preceded in death were his wife Alice Robinette; son, Carl Robinette, Jr.; step-daughter, Frances Ann Adams Fraley; daughter, Carla Rameriz; brothers, Sammy, Luther, Jack, Sonny, and George Robinette; and sisters, Oakie, Marie, Lucille, and Anne.

Surviving is his son, Tony Robinette of Clermont, Florida; step-daughters, Valerie (Mike) Hicks of Rockingham, North Carolina, Sherry Conn, and Kathy (Joe) Clemons, all of Logan, WV; grandchildren, Ryan (Kristen), Ty Hicks, and Jessica (Bobby) Dingess, Alexandria (Joey) Justice, Madison (Cody) Gore, Gunner, Bailey, and Cross Conn, Joey (Jackie) and Skyler Clemons, Austin Simon, Dallon Robinette, and Lucy Robinette; great-grandchildren include Bronx Dingess, Harper Justice, Madden Clay, Hunter and Carter Gore, and Cruz Clemons; one sister, Sandy Robinette of Florida.

Carl was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was previously employed by several coal mines around Logan County, W.V., Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet, N.C., and most recently, Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham, N.C., where he took pride in his environmental service position. Carl was a jokester at heart and loved everyone he met.

He was an active member of Hope Church Rockingham and previously attended Maple Street Freewill Baptist. He loved to garden, cut grass, and raise chickens.

At his request, a graveside service in his honor will be held at a later date, where he will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Logan, West Virginia, with his wife, Alice Robinette. Pastor Mike Hicks will officiate.
