Obituary for Edward "Eddie" Keith Conner

Edward “Eddie” Keith Conner, 59, of Rockingham and Shallotte, passed away Monday, March, 28, 2022.

He was born in Richmond County on February 28, 1963, son of Patricia Marks Johnson and the late Douglas Wayne Taylor, Sr.

Eddie played football for Richmond Senior High School, where he graduated. After high school, he attended at UNC-Chapel Hill. He served in the United States Navy where he traveled the world via the ocean.

He was a self-employed contractor, serving both Richmond and Brunswick Counties. He had a great love for NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a rambling man, both kind-hearted and genuine, with a free spirit and a gypsy soul. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need, then and there. Being a “Papa” was his greatest joy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Taylor; and son, Justin.

Eddie is survived by his mother and step-father, Patricia “Pat” Marks Johnson and Johnny Johnson of Rockingham; step-mother, Nanette Taylor of Ocean Isle Beach; children, Gena Conner (Kennedy) and Joseph Conner (Deborah), all of Rockingham, Alicia McManus (Justin) of Conway, SC, Tyler Conner of Virginia Beach, VA, Eric Pekuri of Rockingham, Jared Pekuri of Michigan, Dustin Allard of Georgia, and J.W. Maggard of Elizabeth City; life partner, Sabrina “Sam” Todd; brothers, Douglas Wayne Taylor, II (Mandy) of Shallotte, Clay Johnson (Elizabeth) of Midland, NC, and Tony Johnson of Lilesville; sisters, Doreen Hatami of Florida, Annette Morrison of Rockingham, and Amy Rhinehardt (Keith) of Monroe; grandchildren, Gavin, Kannon, Lawrence, Riley, Joseph, Eathan, Jolene, Mason, Riley, and Rae; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 4:00pm-5:00pm at East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church. The memorial service will begin, following visitation, at 5:00pm with Pastor Johnny Johnson officiating.

Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Conner family.
