Obituary for Ellis Berdette "Buddy" Hicks, Sr.
Mr. Ellis Berdette “Buddy” Hicks, Sr., 91, of Hamlet, died, Monday, May 10, 2021, at Hospice Haven.
He was born December 4, 1929, in Ellerbe, son of Robert Lee Hicks and Mildred Williams Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Hamlet, a veteran of US Marine, serving and fought in Korean War, and was previously a Dispatch Foremen for CSX Railroad. He loved his family, really enjoyed his time at CSX and was married to the love of his life for over 60 years until her death in September 2020. He had a great personality and sense of humor; he will be missed.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Richmond Memorial Park. Pastor Chris Lyerly will be officiating and burial will follow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Iola Gertrude Kirkley Hicks; son, Buddy Hicks, Jr.; daughter, Karen Blue; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Hicks (Sandra) and Alan Hicks both of Rockingham; brother, John Hicks of Columbus, NC; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in his memory to Calvary Baptist Church, Kirkley Memorial Fund, 406 McDonald Avenue, Hamlet, NC 28345
