Obituary for Harvey Vernon McDonald
Harvey Vernon McDonald, 88, of Ocean Isle Beach, formerly of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Autumn Care of Shallotte.
He was born June 11, 1934, in Richmond County, son of the late Woodrow Wilson McDonald and Shadie English McDonald.
Mr. McDonald proudly served in the United States Air Force and during his working years, he was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Shadie McDonald; and a brother, Woodrow Wilson McDonald, Jr.
Mr. McDonald is survived by his daughters, Nanet M. Taylor of Ocean Isle Beach, Sherry M. Stone of Kernersville, Teresa M. Taylor (Stevie) of Rockingham, Denise Racz and Richelle Hawthorne, both of California; brothers, Lee McDonald (Bobbi) and Casey McDonald, all of Hamlet; sixteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 1:00-2:00pm at Harrington Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm, immediately following the visitation, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, with Lee McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rockingham.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Mr. McDonald’s daughter, Teresa and Stevie Taylor, 377 McDonald Church Road, Rockingham.
The family would like to thank two special caregivers, Rikki Sellers and Sandy Fulford.
