Obituary for Jean Thompson Greene
Jean Thompson Greene, 79, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 4, 2022 at PruittHealth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rockingham.
She was born January 15, 1943, in Richmond County, daughter of the late Julius Arch “Tommy” Thompson and Myrtle Clark Thompson.
Jean was a Registered Nurse for more than 55 years. She worked at Hamlet Hospital, Dr. Ahdieh’s office, and FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Rockingham. She was a true caregiver at heart.
Jean took pleasure in spending time with her granddaughters. She loved the beach and walking along the coastline. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going out to eat. For many years, she would watch Nancy Grace on television.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius Arch “Tommy” Thompson and Myrtle Clark Thompson; husband, Phillip Ray Greene, Sr.; son, Phillip Ray Greene, Jr.; and a brother, William “Bill” Thompson.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Randy Chance of Hamlet; granddaughters, Cassie Gray (Ronnie) of Laurinburg, Jordyn Chance and Kamlyn Ledwell, both of Hamlet; great-granddaughters, Lilah Chance of Hamlet and Hannah Gray of Randleman; great-great granddaughter, Layla Boone; sister-in-law, Lela Thompson of Biscoe; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2022 from 6:00-8:00pm at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will be Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 12noon in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, with Rev. Andrew Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hamlet.
