Obituary for Jennings Bryan Capps

Jennings Bryan Capps, 78, of Rockingham, passed away, Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at Hospice Haven.

He was born in Harnett County, December 14, 1941, son of Rev. John David Capps and Tobitha Creech Capps.

Mr. Capps was an Inspector for the Federal Government, a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Army, a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church. He filled many positions at the church serving Sunday school
superintendant, played Bass guitar for the church and previously sang bass with “Sounds of Joy” and “Gloryland Boys”.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Northam Cemetery, due to Covid-19 restrictions. Pastor Ricky Jacobs will be officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Capps and Arnold Capps; and sister, Mary Lee Rector.

He is survived by his wife, Virgie Mae Locklear Capps of the home; daughters, Patricia Rankin (Randy) of Rockingham, Debbie Clark (Shawn) of Rockingham and Caren McLain (Ben) of Ellerbe; sons, Glenn C. Capps (Alanda) of Zephyrhills, FL and John David Capps (Susan) of Sanford; sisters, Helen Winstead of Statesboro, GA and Joyce Brison of Gastonia; and four grandchildren, Jon Johnson, Bailey Clark, Hayden Heavner and Kayla Scott.
