Obituary for John "Buddy" Willie Owens, Jr.
John Willie “Buddy” Owens, Jr., 82, of Hamlet, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his residence.
He was born January 26, 1940, in Robeson County, son of the late John Willie Owens, Sr. and Rebecca Locklear Owens.
Mr. Owens worked in textiles with Pinecroft and loved working. He attended West Rockingham Church of God. He enjoyed farming and gardening. “Buddy”, as he was affectionately known, loved life; he loved to cut-up and joke, and especially loved children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe Locklear and Willie Ray Owens; and sister, Pearl Goodwin.
Mr. Owens is survived by his siblings, Ricky Owens of Laurinburg, Charles Cummings, James Owens, Lonnie Owens, Charlie Owens, Mary Seago, Annie Mae Cummings, Joyce Sewell, Annie Owens, and Dorothy Griffin, all of Hamlet, and Rosie Owens of Rockingham.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Harrington Funeral Home.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 12:00pm, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Owens Family Cemetery, Hamlet.
