Obituary for Lacy Atlas Beck
Lacy Atlas Beck, son of the late Lacy A. Beck, Sr. and Pauline Nye Beck, was born October 12, 1930 in Hamlet, NC.
Lacy worked for Seaboard Railroad (CSX) for 42 years. He was also a veteran of the US Marine Corp and a member of Marks Creek Presbyterian Church. Lacy spent much of his time farming and loved being outdoors. He always had a joke to tell and enjoyed conversating with others. He graduated from Hamlet High School on June 3, 1949. Lacy was hard working and provided for his family.
Lacy was preceded in death by his wife Hattie. He married Hattie on July 29, 1961 in Dillon, SC. Hattie passed away on October 13, 2020. He is also preceded in death by sons, Mark A. Beck and Terry A. Beck, a brother, Grady Beck and sisters, Mary Louise Smith and Nellie Morrison.
Lacy is survived by daughters, Nancy (Mike) Smith of Rockingham, and Jennifer (Stephen) Jackson of Hamlet; Granddaughters, Amy (Kevin) Helms, Danielle and Gabrielle Jackson; Grandson, Brandon Smith; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, Isaac, and Kenzie Helms.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hamlet.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Beck may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Highway 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
