Obituary for Lewis "Lew" Wellington Hodgins
Lewis “Lew” Wellington Hodgins, 92, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born March 6, 1930, in Spokane, Washington, son of the late Lewis William Hodgins and Dorothea Rosa Rogers Hodgins.
Mr. Hodgins worked for many years as a Sales Manager with Montgomery Ward and JC Penney. He was a caring man and loved his entire family. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending vacations abroad as well as their weekly visits to the movie theater. He was a sports enthusiast and was a season ticket holder for the Charlotte Hornets for many years, attending most of those games with his son Brad. His passion was gardening and growing flowers in his own yard, which he took pride in maintaining every season.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patty Hanks.
Mr. Hodgins is survived by his wife, Ellen Helena Tarlton Hodgins, of the home; children, Lewis R. (Donna) Hodgins of Rocky Mount, NC, Lisa Hodgins (Bob Audi) of Loudonville, NY, Linda Hodgins of St. Petersburg, FL, Brad Hodgins of Wadesboro, NC, Michelle Pazer (Lou Kleinman) of Los Angeles, CA; step-daughters, Misty Sale (Shane) of Hamlet and Sarah Burr (Hugh James) of Wadesboro, NC; nine grandchildren, Rachel (Chase) Bower, Kyle Audi (Carly), Gabrielle Hodgins, Nicole Manea (Andrew), Lewis G. Hodgins, Maria Hodgins, Laura Shapiro, Elijah Hodgins, Theodore Hodgins, Ethan Sale (Megan), and Charlie Burr; four great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Hodgins of Walla Walla, WA; and sister, Natalie Drumm of North Dakota.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 1:00-2:00pm at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, at 2:00pm, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie McLean officiating.
