Obituary for Lillian "Lisa" Maynard Layton
Lillian “Lisa” Maynard Layton, 65, of Arden, NC, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, Rockingham.
She was born June 12, 1957, in Richmond County, daughter of the late Robert Clyde Maynard and Ethel Grey Rushing Maynard.
Lisa previously worked as a medical office manager. She attended St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Arden. She was quite an artist and was very creative and crafty. Walking and hiking were some of her favorite hobbies. She was sharp-witted with an unmistakable sense of humor. She loved to help and always saw the good in people.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved all of her family and she was the “Sweetheart” to her “Daddio”.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clyde and Ethel Grey Maynard; infant daughter, Dorothy Grey Layton; brother, Steven Randolph Maynard; and sister, Susan Grey Maynard Clark.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Roscoe Layton, Jr. of the home; daughter, Teresa Grey Layton Ibarra, and son, Marcus Paul Layton, both of Asheville; grandchildren, Ivan Maynard Ibarra and Vivian Moon Ibarra, both of Ozark, Alabama; brother, Robert Clyde Maynard, III (Eunice) of Jacksonville, Alabama; sister, Camilla Jane Maynard Hudson of Rockingham; brother-in-law, Steve Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11:00am at St. James Catholic Church in Hamlet, with Father Fidel Melo presiding.
