Obituary for Matthew Honeycutt, Sr.

Mr. Matthew Honeycutt, Sr., 70, of Hamlet, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 5, 1951, along with his triplet brothers, Mark and Luke, to parents, the late Wilbert and Mary Ann Guinn Honeycutt.

Mr. Honeycutt worked in textiles and attended Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching western movies and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Mark, Luke, William, and Franklin Honeycutt; sisters, Sara McCormick, Mildred Moss, Betty Burns, Martha Covington, and Louise Allred.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Ann Chavis Honeycutt, of the home; sons, Matthew Honeycutt, Jr. (Tammy), of Hamlet, James Honeycutt (Amber), of Rockingham, and A.J. Honeycutt, of Weaverville, NC; grandchildren, Dakota Honeycutt, Isabelle Honeycutt, Jacob Honeycutt, and Hunter Braswell; brother, David Honeycutt, of Rockingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 12:30pm-2:00pm, at Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church, Rockingham.

The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm following the visitation, with Pastor Darwin Cooke and Pastor Mike Rankin officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wallace, SC.

Masks and social distancing are requested for all services.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 100 Freeman Mill Road, Hamlet.
