Obituary for Matthew "Matt" Cole Haywood
Mr. Matthew “Matt” Cole Haywood, 34, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Matt was born August 9, 1987, son of John V. Haywood, Jr. and Mary Gibson Haywood.
He attended of First Baptist Church in Rockingham, worked previously for Walmart and was also a member of the Masons, Rockingham Lodge 495.
Matt was a loving son, brother, and uncle; He never met a stranger and always offered a genuine smile and handshake. He loved the Lord with his whole heart and soul. Matt cared for people in the purest way, often asking, “how can I pray for you?” He loved people for who they were and wished the best for them. Matt will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Matt was preceded in death by a sister, Kimberly Ford.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Gibson Haywood of the home; father, John V. Haywood, Jr. (Tyresa) of Laurinburg; sisters, Sherri Kendall (Brian) of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Hannah Richardson (Josh) of Ellerbe; and brothers, John Haywood (Telena) of Hamlet and Clint Haywood of Rockingham.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 30, 2022, from 1:00pm-2:00 pm at Harrington Funeral Home.
The graveside service will be following the visitation, at 2:30pm, at Richmond Memorial Park, with Rev. James Croke and Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Burial will follow the service.
Masks are requested for all services.
