Obituary for Mr. Hollis Smith, Jr.
Mr. Hollis Smith, Jr., 78, of Hamlet, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond.
He was born November 12, 1943 in Marlboro County, SC, son of the late Hollis Samuel Smith, Sr. and Lucille Chavis Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member at Outreach for Jesus in Hamlet. He loved working on cars, watching football and NASCAR racing. He also had a love of beach music and shagging. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis Samuel Smith, Sr. and Lucille Smith; brother, Frank Smith; and sister, Louise Smith Johnson.
Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois Taylor Smith of the home; daughters, Tammy Smith McKenzie (Kane) and Tara Smith Pierce (Mart), all of Rockingham; grandsons, Joshua McKenzie, Levi McKenzie, and Zacharias McKenzie; brothers, Boag Smith and J.D. Smith (Francis), all of Bennettsville; and sister, Joann Smith High of Spartanburg, SC.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 3:00-4:00pm in the chapel of the mausoleum at Richmond County Memorial Park. The funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 4:00pm, with his life-long friend, Bishop Marvin Taylor, and his son-in-law, Pastor Kane McKenzie, officiating.
Entombment will be at Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
