Obituary for Neal Archie Wilkes, Sr.
Mr. Neal Archie Wilkes, Sr., 87, of Hamlet, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born June 16, 1935, in Richmond County, son of the late Neal Ernest Wilkes and Beulah Terry Wilkes.
Mr. Wilkes was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Hamlet, attending there for more than fifty years. He enjoyed gardening and yard work,and was a man of many talents when it came to fixing things. He could be found tinkering in his shop, which he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal Ernest Wilkes and Beulah Terry Wilkes; wife, Annie Jeannette Gibson Wilkes; son, David Alan Wilkes; and sister, Evelyn Wilkes Blue.
Surviving are his children, Neal Archie Wilkes, Jr. (Tara) of Rockingham, Karen Wilkes Dunn (Billy) and Diane Wilkes Soileau (David), all of Hamlet; grandchildren, Kelli Easterling Taylor (Glen), Christopher Wilkes (Meredith), Travis Shaw, Dustin Shaw, Ben Soileau (Hannah), and Brittany Soileau; five great-grandchildren; brother, James E. Wilkes (Peggy) of Hamlet; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2022 from 1:00pm-2:00pm at Second Baptist Church, Hamlet.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00pm, with Pastor Chris Hawks and Pastor Marvin Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Richmond County Memorial Park.
