Obituary for Prentiss Herndon
Prentiss Herndon, 70, of Hamlet, passed away, Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at The Hermitage Retirement Center in Rockingham .
He was born October 30, 1950, in Richmond County, son of the late Fred Herndon and Leslie Paul Herndon.
As a child, Prentiss attended the Ghio Church of God. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and growing his own vegetables. He was a loving, quiet man who kept to himself.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Otis Herndon; and a sister, Ella Rainwater.
Survivors include his son, Garrett Herndon of Hamlet; sisters, Delia Hogan, Cynthia Peed and Betty Doty (James) all of Hamlet; brothers, Jerry Herndon of Bennettsville, SC and Freddie Herndon (Vicky) of Wallace, SC; 3 grandchildren; four nieces; five nephews.
A Visitation will be held at Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory, Saturday, May 29, 2021, from 7-9 PM.
The funeral will be Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Church with Pastor Joe Wilkes officiating.
Burial will follow at Hogan Family Cemetery, 200 Eddie’s Lane, Hamlet.
Everyone is asked to wear a mask and to continue to practice social distancing.
