Obituary for Rev. William Franklin McQuage,Jr. "Preacher Frank"

Rev. William Franklin McQuage, Jr. “Preacher Frank”, 92, of Rockingham, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Hospice Haven.

He was born May 14, 1928, in Richmond County, son of William F. McQuage, Sr. and Minnie Carpenter McQuage.

He was a veteran of the US Navy, and God called Frank McQuage to the Ministry in 1952. A true man of God , he was the founding Pastor of Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church, Rockingham ,which he pastored for 40 years, Hopewell Free Will Baptist one year, Associate Pastor at Jesus First Free Will Baptist ten years, Joy Free Will Baptist two years and at the present time attended Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist. He touched many lives over the years of his Ministry and those who loved and respected him for it are too many to even begin to count. With his God given wisdom; He always knew the right place to be , the correct words to say or when you just needed that hug or someone to listen .Everyone that knew him loved him and all had a story to tell, from those he married, to those he buried, to those he simply picked up as children and took to church; each story spoke of the goodness of this man of God; There will never be another “Preacher Frank” !

He was also the Chaplain for Richmond County Sheriff Department for thirty years, Rockingham Police Department twenty nine years and East Rockingham Fire Department for two years. The communities Law Enforcement was another of the things he saw as important part of his everyday life.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church from 6:00-8:00 pm.

The Funeral will be at Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church, Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 3:00 pm

Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery, Rockingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first Wife, Ida Gibson McQuage; and his son, Ronnie McQuage.
Survivors include his wife, Raymel Eubanks McQuage of the home; daughters, Wanda M. Clark and Nancy M. Leviner both of Rockingham; son, Bill McQuage (Glenda) of Rockingham; step-son, Charles Collins (Donna) of Rockingham; brother, James McQuage (Margaret) of Delaware; grandchildren, Holly Mabe, Torrie Bailey, Traci Stevens, Chad Clark, Shandi Webb, Jason McQuage, Sherry Sale, Crystal Gardner and Marie Shelly; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Matthew 25: 23 His Lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
