Obituary for Shirley B. Jones
Shirley Bullard Jones, 86, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at FirstHealth Hospice House, Pinehurst.
She was born November 1, 1935, in Richmond County, daughter of the late Mack and Virginia Burchette Bullard.
Shirley was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ellerbe. She loved her church and was an avid reader of her Bible. She worked for thirty-plus years with Hamlet Federal Credit Union and loved her work family and job. She retired from the Credit Union at the age of 81. One of her greatest joys in life was serving at her job. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Hamlet High School, class of 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Virginia Burchette Bullard.
Shirley is survived by her children, Debbie Walsh (Bill) of Columbia, SC, Lisa Spencer (Dale) of Ellerbe, Lori Swaringen of Limestone, Tennessee, and Charles Thomas Wilson, Jr. of Hamlet; grandchildren, Trey Wilson (Toni), Heidi Edwards (Jeremy), Brandon Walsh (Kendall), Heather Swaringen, and Becca Greene (David); great-grandchildren, Harper Swaringen, Audrey Wilson, Alli Petro, McClaine Walsh, and Gunnar Walsh; and special friends, Travis and Sherry Nichols.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 1:00-2:00pm at Bethel Baptist Church, Ellerbe.
The funeral will follow immediately after the visitation, beginning at 2:00pm, with Pastor Thomas Butler officiating. Entombment will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 1605 Brookfield Road, Rockingham.
