Obituary for Susie Shepard Greene
Susie Shepard Greene, 84, of Ellerbe, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
She was born November 15, 1937 in Richmond County, son of the late Dewey Shepard and Delvina Yates Shepard.
Mrs. Greene was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ellerbe. She loved cooking Sunday dinners, and her family especially loved her pan of homemade biscuits. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, fishing, and bluegrass music, and loved country television shows and old western movies. Her family was most important in her life and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and her husband, Arthur, celebrated 70 years of marriage in January 2022, and he passed away on March 11, 2022, just eight short days prior to his loving wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Greene; son, Dannie Greene; brother, James Shepard; and sister, Mary Lou Nunn.
Mrs. Greene is survived by her son, Ronnie Greene (Janet) of Hamlet; daughters, Linda Newton (Charles) and Dianne Powers (Bill), all of Ellerbe; daughter-in-law, Karen Greene of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Dennis Greene (Leslie), Richard Greene (Crystal), Jason Darnell, Cindy Lisk (Joey), Sam White, Sarah McClellan (D.J.), Daniel Greene, Marcus Greene, and Laura Greene; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Elbert Shepard (Mary) and Lacey Shepard (Joanne), all of Rockingham; and sisters, Rachel McIntyre of Rockingham, Loretta Poole of Alabama, and Patsy Parker (Polly) of Bolton, NC.
Visitation for Susie and Arthur Greene will be Friday, March 25, 2022 from 1:00pm-2:00pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Ellerbe. The memorial service will follow immediately at 2:00pm. The family will gather in the fellowship hall after the service.
A private family burial will be at a later date.
At other times, the family will meet at the home of Laura Greene, 2355 N. US Hwy. 220, Ellerbe.
