Mrs. Sybil “Nanny” Parris Pattan, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at her residence.
She was born July 12, 1940, in Spartanburg, SC, daughter of the late Arthur Woodrow Parris, Sr. and Janie Elizabeth Byars.
Mrs. Pattan was the Queen of the Red Hat Society. She was an integral part of the ladies auxillary of the former Sandhills Regional Medical Center, Hamlet, in which has funded in the past, and presently funds, scholarships for the Richmond Community College Nursing Program. She was an avid quilter and crafter, especially giving to her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, loving Nanny, and a friend to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Woodrow Parris, Sr. and Janie Elizabeth Parris; daughter, Theresa Ann “Tess” Pattan; brother, Stacy Parris; and sister, Kitty Johnson.
Mrs. Pattan is survived by her husband of 63 years, William “Bill” M. Pattan, Jr., of the home; sons, Kevin A. Pattan (Tammy) and Timmy Pattan (Julia), all of Rockingham; brother, A.W. “Butch” Parris, Jr. (Lynn) of Rockingham; sister, Jean Davis of Rockingham; grandchildren, Amanda Covington, Nicholas Rankin, Seth Pattan (Xanthe), Miles Pattan (Skylar), Bethany Pattan, Natalie Pattan, and Rachel Pattan; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ciara, Jayden, and Ella Jane; special friend, Sara Poston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Harrington Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held privately by the family.
