Obituary for Vester "PeeWee" Smith
Vester “Pee Wee” Smith, 78, passed away, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Hospice Haven.
He was born in Stokes County, January 8, 1943, son of Sam Smith and Mary Stevens Smith.
“PeeWee”, as most people knew him, was a very likeable, kind man. He was a former Heavy Equipment operator, a job suited perfect for a person that enjoyed being outdoors. He enjoyed his tractor and doing woodwork as well. He loved people and loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beulah Yates Smith; brothers, Leo, James, Hassel Lee and Billy Joe Smith; sisters, Dorothy Cherry, Alice Teal and Mary Teal.
Survivors include his wife, Molly Black Smith of the home; son, Samuel Lee Smith (Theressa) of Rockingham; two grandchildren, Samuel Lee Smith, Jr. and Ashley Smith; great-grandchildren, Annsley and Decklann Smith; sister, Curlie “Jean” Speight of Lumberton; step-daughters, Denise Rainwater (William) of Southport and Tammy Hoffman(Ernest) of Rockingham; step-son, Billy Hoffman of Rockingham; and eight step-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Sweet Haven Church, Rockingham, at 11:00 AM, Rev. Mitchell Roller will be officiating.
