Mr. Wilbert Mitchell “Mickey” Watson, 61, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.
He was born in Richmond County on November 16, 1960, son of the late Paul Hugh Watson and Brenda McDonald Potter.
Mickey was a hard worker and loved his job. He also loved spending time driving his car and visiting the beach. To know him was to love him; and he was well-loved by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brenda McDonald Potter and Alfred Taylor “Red” Potter, Jr., and Paul Hugh Watson; and brother, Alfred T. “Sambo” Potter, III.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber Gustafson (Robert) of Cordova; brother, Joe Potter (April) of Rockingham; sisters, Julie Watson of Raleigh, Crystal Britt of Hamlet, and Tammy Potter Burns (Darrell) of Rockingham; and grandchildren, Jonathan, Emily, Savannah, and Allison.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Harrington Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 12:00pm following the visitation, with Rev. Ronnie Wayne Chavis officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.
Face masks are preferred for all services.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Crystal Britt, 122 Arlee Drive, Hamlet.
